YOUR SCREEN, YOUR NEEDS
It seems obvious but it is important to take it into account. The needs of a child, an adult or a person with mobility problems are radically different. And the bulkhead should fit them. For children, the ones that open from the middle upwards are practical: from the outside you can reach the faucet controls and from below you avoid splashing. On the other hand, people with mobility problems need more resistance, security and support points.
THE BEST OPENING SYSTEM FOR YOUR BATHROOM
The free space around the shower and the type of shower tray -square, rectangular, curved…- will determine the choice of one design or another.
SLIDES:
90% of the screens are installed with this system, since they slide on guides and do not require an opening angle and do not take up space in the bathroom. This makes them a perfect choice for low meters. In addition, they are the most watertight partitions. The only “but” is that they usually have more profiles than a hinged opening, whose design is usually cleaner.
BATIENTS:
They open inwards, outwards or in some cases in both directions, being very practical in large bathrooms where it is not important to mortgage cm that must be left free to open the door. Their main advantage is that they leave a wide entrance hole to the dish, much larger than the sliding ones. In addition, its aesthetics is more minimalist, as it hardly needs any profiles.
FIXED PANEL:
In mini bathrooms they are the best option, because they do not take up space or detract light. Make sure you can comfortably access the shower tray. When the panel is fixed, it is simply attached to the wall with a hinge.
THE MATERIAL OF THE PANELS AND THEIR FINISH
Glass has replaced acrylic, becoming the star material of the partition panels. It is an impact-resistant tempered safety glass and, in case of breakage, it breaks into very small, rounded pieces with no sharp edges. It is important to take into account the thickness of the glass, as this is what guarantees the stability and safety of the screen. For sliding doors the ideal is 6 mm and for fixed panels, 8 mm or more. Another element to consider is the finish of the glass. The most common is transparent, as it gives a feeling of more space. If you are looking to preserve privacy without sacrificing light, the best option is translucent. They are also screen-printed or even decorated.
